The year 2021 saw a gradual decline in the sale of agricultural produce in Erikulam. Though the crop was up to the mark, it had only a few takers who chose to buy at name-sake rates. However, this did not dampen the spirits of the local farmers here.
Anticipative, they decided to work, hoping for a greater harvest and larger sale of their produce. So, in 2022, 65 families joined to do agriculture in the 36-acre field in Erikulam. They grew a variety of produce like the yard long beans, bitter gourd, amaranth leaves, snake gourd, pumpkin and more. The harvest amounted to 400 tons of organic vegetables. Besides, 100 quintals of more than three species of watermelon were harvested, another feather in the cap of the farmers here.
